Cooker on my boat is... poor

To prove that it was the run of piping I took a bottle of gas down below, connected it via a regulator and flexihose straight to the cooker. Worked great. Just as a temporary test!

Yes it was a pain to get all that copper fed through all the bulkheads and bits but well worth it in the end.

changed the regulator for a 30mb one (original was 28). think the next trick is to try connecting the gas beside the cooker itself, as you've said.

If it were the pipe run to blame you'd probably find that a single burner on would be OK, two on perhaps not so good. Even worse with the grill on as well and a disaster with the oven on.

Any chance that is an old propane cooker that should run at 37mb and you are trying to run it on camping gas ( butane) at 28 or 30 mb

Well don't think so as the gas Locker is only big enough to fit campingaz? Any small propane tanks available back then?

Think it's an ENO, not sure though as offending marks are missing!

Flame about 1cm long

It's campingaz smallish blue one, not sure if you can get these in adjustable form? I think the regulator and flexible hose would be a good start from a safety standpoint too.

It's the grill that's the main problem as the cooker cooks, albeit a bit slowly.
Clean the jets with a piece of copper wire

I can't see any standard jets on the hob, when I open up the burner instead of a jet in the bottom there is a big hole on the right hand side, leading to I know not where.

Is it likely the jets would require the whole cooker taking apart?

On my eno, take the top of the burner and the jet is looking at you.

There is a solid long screw in the middle of mine, holding the top on, so no burner there, just a hole to the right.

Bashed the grill a bit while it was on, slight improvement in that all of the holes now have a flame coming out!
