Conwy to stangford lough via peel Iom

Peel marina is not 24hr access. Diesel is there but is on one of the walls outside the marina and dries out. Probably + - 3 hours HW. I also needed a fuel card preloaded which I got from the fishermans association office. There must be something in place for visitors but it's certainly unmanned.

The outer wall is 24hr access but is first come and fills up with large fishing vessels. It can get bouncy there too.

Peel marina is a wonderful place to spend a few days.

Flap gate times are at the bottom of the web page in PDFs format.

Douglas is another option with a visitors pontoon April to September. The marina is flap gate again and fuel unmanned.

Strangford needs to be hit at as slack tide as possible. The tide run through the entrance at strangford is unreal. 8 knots on the ebb with standing waves at the bar. That's why they put a tidal generator there. I've never needed fuel there but did in Ardglas round the corner and they arranged a road tanker to deliver. Probably the same at strangford.

Motorboat Owner did a feature on the IOM a few months back (might have assisted Neale and Claire's a little :) ). Free online magazine if you don't already know.

Drop me a pm if I can help any further and have a great trip!!

Take care with the gate times at Peel. We've been there and almost missed the gate because of weather conditions meaning the gate shut almost an hour before it was scheduled to. We had to run all the way back to the boat, which is quite a way around the top of the harbour.

Safest option: Always check with the harbourmaster.

Long time since I've visited Strangford. Take note of what has been said.

Your better at Dublin for fuel, but it is a nightmare. Ask about but you did pay for fuel at the chandlery, then it's up a forty foot wall,Mao it's a bit tricky. Strangford is lovely and I had a few friends there. Treat it with respect.

You also have Donaghadee or Bangor (more facilities) for an over night stop. That's if the bar mouth of Strangford looks like its going to swallow you up.

Best timing it at the turn of tide. Once in, its beautiful. Ballydorn lightship is nice to stay at for a night or two. Great restaurant Daft Eddies is walking distance.

Or Strangford is also a lovely town, plenty of pubs and food
