Conwy River and Strop / Swing mooring advice

As a much cheaper, and slightly off the wall alternative to fairleads, how about attaching strips of HDPE to your little bulwarks to raise the strops above what looks like a rubber rubbing strake? Source of HDPE: a plastic kitchen cutting board.

That would allow the lines to find their ideal position and there'd be little stress on the strips. No need for through-bolting or hardwood blocks

Dunedin - interesting point about “crossing” the foredeck. I’ve seen a few people do this and others who religiously don’t. Is there any logic which is better if you have twin pickups/bridles? Would the same apply if getting a tow with a bridle?

For wood blocks have a look for reclaimed or salvaged timber yards near you. It seems to be a growing trend.
Stemar's HDPE could be a good idea, you may be able to form it with a heat gun to hook over your bulwark and rubbing strip. Stick it down with CT1/OB1.
