Conwy Marina - Noob Suitability

More of that in a Post to come."

Oh, Bu@@er, now I'm worried!

Seriously tho' Take5, I spent years in Conway on a swinging mooring (I'm a yottie) the most important bits of kit you need are paper charts (or plotter) and an echo-sounder! The whole area is full of mud & sandbanks. I don't know your boat, but if it can take the ground, the it's generally no probs, if not, be carefull. Tides can exceed 30' in range at springs and currents in the Conway are swift.

If slow speed handling is tricky get as much practice as you can with ferry-glides (sideways across the current) and picking up stuff in the water (eg fenders). You may one day need very accurate handling to get a crew member back on board!

There are speed limits in the river, so, in general, pass downstream of moored boats so you do not get swept onto them.

Don't be put off, but simply take care. Join a club & cruise in company at first while you learn.
