I see that mention has been made of Cardiff Bay: well, I'll have a vote for that though slightly across the water at Penarth Marina. With a combination of the 500-acre fresh water lake which has been created by the Cardiff Bay Barrage and the inner and outer docks at Penarth, the whole is a non-tidal boating area.
Penarth is a 24-hour operation (access to the marina is controlled by a lock gate) and is ca 300 fully serviced berths. Cardiff Barrage is also a 24-hour service. Once out, you have access to either the Severn or across the water to Bristol and then South to Somerset/Devon/Cornish coastline. West is out to The Mumbles, Pembroke and beyond: stunning cruising whichever way you turn.
