Converting a Continental LPG regulator to Calor, can it be done?

What a load of tripe, you have no idea what I'm doing to my system.

On reflection, I think you have a point. This is a good site for getting advice on the conventional UK ways of doing things, but I think we don't appreciate your wanting to do things your own way. There's an American sailing site that takes a much more open minded approach and that may suit you better: www.sailinganarchy.com
It has far more participants worldwide so you should be able to get a more international perspective.

I can't see the point in asking advice from experienced and knowledgeable people (myself excluded) and then rejected. Vic gave you a link to a fitting that did what you wanted - why don't you fit it? Admittedly it is more expensive than a new regulator.

If you bother to read what I have posted you will find that that question is answered.
Oh & on the question of qualifications.I'd bet I'm better qualified than anyone who has posted in this thread as my critique when it comes to craftsmanship & making things & also on gas installation except possible the bloke that has the LPG ACSs qualifications if indeed he has & is employed doing that specifically.

PS: Still dos'nt mean he's necessarily competent or practical. Some of the characters I went through a gas course with I would'nt trust to do some of the simplest of tasks, their practical ability was so conspicuous by it's absence.

Thanks for that.I'm happy to ask for advice & consider that before making my own mind up about things :encouragement:

What a load of tripe, you have no idea what I'm doing to my system.Your arrogance is simply staggering.

Guess being accused of arrogance is better than being considered stupid.

From what I understand of your problem it could be solved by simply buying the correct piece of equipment (a regulator) to attach the gas bottle you have chosen to your cooker. Cannot understand when such a simple solution is available that you persist in trying to make it difficult.

Please, please, replace your out of date hose before you blow yourself up.

I agree this is a sensible precaution but I doubt if nic will agree.
One check you can do is bend it through a tight radius and examine for minor cracks.

As I said earlier an unused length that I'd had on the garage shelf for sometime passed that test no problems.. When I attempted to use it though it split length wise as i pushed it onto the nozzle. If it had gone on Ok it would probably have split later while in service. The result could have been catastrophic!

Morale is if more than 5 years beyond the marked date of manufacture bin it!

Accusing someone of being stupid while at the same time showing that you hav'nt even bothered to properly research what I have been posting about just reinforces the accusation of arrogance, you condemn yourself out of your own mouth!

I shall make up my own mind about when to replace something.I really hav'nt got time for wittering old nanny's.

& you think I hav'nt done that? Clearly arrogance is the order of the day.

Do you also replace your rigging wire automatically every 10 years? (that is another recommendation I have seen) & your keel bolts every 20? Seems to me that being able to think for yourself is in very short supply in this forum..........Obviously if your gas hose has been used with a very tight bend or in extreme conditions it needs particular attention but just automatically handing over all decision making to 'experts' in a situation where we need to think for ourselves is frankly frightening. No wonder so many people just run out of petrol & then expect the RNLI to come & save them

There was an American President I believe who said something like if you stop letting people make their own mistakes you end up with a nation of idiots. We seem to have arrived at that point!

You know what thought did don't you? If not my Instructor at British Aerospace would have been very happy to tell you

I dread to think what your BA instructor or your gas fitters' course instructor would say if they read some of the things you have posted in this thread. Deny outright that you were ever one of their pupils I would think!

You are being unbelievably stupid and the more you keep saying such things the more stupid you are proving yourself to be.

Please, please identify your boat so that the rest of us can keep well away and so that Harbourmasters and marina berthing masters can tell you to sling your hook elsewhere if you turn up on their patch in your floating deathtrap.

Maybe it was a cheap old bit made in China? You really should stop being such a Scrooge Vic :D

Was it the modern stuff with a braided inner & a thick outer layer? ( the only other explanation I can give is well how well do you get on with your wife),she would'nt have reason to bump you off would she? ;)

What rubbish.I think you need to lighten up mate.

Having lost the will to live after page 1 of this thread I have only skimmed the posts.

However, since a 21.8 LH to RH converter was mentioned I thought I'd share this supplier where I recently obtained such an item.

I don't know (or care) if this will satisfy the original poster's needs but it solved my bottle issue and others may find the product source useful.
