Re: Conversion of units .... Tks Dave ...

As you can imagine - with my line of work - I have so many conversion tables and calculators - that they fill discs !! Problem with them all is that one has error in one field, another has it in another etc. etc. So I haven't found one that is accurate enough in all yet.

The one I posted is good enough for everyday use and non-essential work.

When it comes to job - we refer to ASTM Table 1 etc. which has absolute factors ... but then again it is limited in its range of units etc.

Ever heard of a software package called Mathcad? I use it here a lot as an alternative to spreadsheets. One of the best features is the ability to assign a unit to any variable. Then if you try to add a length to a mass it won't let you; but if you divide a force by an area it automatically gives you the answer in pressure units. Also it does all the conversions internally so you can input in inches and pounds and get the answer in KiloPascals. Takes a bit of learning and not without its quirks. Just wondered if anyone else was using it.

I usually work in specific tables as required by arbitration courts etc. - so tables such as suggested here and I use for general non-specific jobs are really interest only.

Please understand that if anyone asks for me to pass on the official tables - I am not allowed to as per Contract and licence.
