Quick question (if such a thing exists!)... I appreciate that Contralube may be best, and that Super Lube do a specific Silicone Dielectric Grease, but would Super Lube's general grease (multi-purpose synthetic with PTFE, containing no silicone) be effective on masthead light connections? We seem to already have a multitude of different pots and potions, and it would be nice to use something for more than one job! The blurb mentions that it's dielectric:

Many thanks.

Among its long list of features, it's kosher, but no mention of compatibility with rubbers or plastics.
The typical applications listed all seem to be focussed on lubricating metal parts.

Any silicone based grease will do the job of protecting the contacts from water getting at them and corroding, and will not attack the plastics. No need to spend money on snake oil, and silicone grease is (or should be) in your toolkit anyways.

Thanks, but the Super Lube I currently have doesn't actually contain silicone. That's what prompted the question really.
