Contessa 33? Are there any owners here?

Hi everyone,

New here and I’ve just bought a Contessa 33.

I’m wondering if there are any owners or past owners here, information on the boat online is pretty scarce.

There are specific clubs for the 26 and 32 but not a general organisation.

Contessa Yachts were big players back in the day. there is also a Contessa;

The 33 was a totally different animal to the classic 32, much more racy. I never sailed one but a member in on of our old clubs had one that was pretty darn quick in it's day.

Apparently a Doug Peterson design and we had much later one of his designs a one ton cupper by Jeanneau and can confirm they are sweet sailers.

Its not a Doug Peterson design, its a Rob Humphreys design, same designer as the 27.
Although the 33 came first.

Hugely competitive boat even today, in the right hands, small below by modern standards, most of the woodwork finished in ash, which works surprisingly well.

Contessazeilers Benelux, a group of Contessa owners in The Netherlands/Belgium are planning a unique event end of August 2025. We would like to have at least one of each standard-produced Contessa's represented. As far as we know there are no Contessa's 33 at this side of the North Sea.
