Decisions, decisions....
I've looked at both Co26s and Vegas - the Vegas are much roomier boats and in much better condition for the asking price compared to the Contessas. It's a bit like choosing between a practical Volvo estate and a Morgan - so many reasons why the Volvo is the better car, but there's something about a Morgan (despite its evident drawbacks).
I've found a very cheap Co26, which needs plenty doing to it, but I rather fancy turning it into my boat, rather than simply taking over someone else's well-cared for boat. Part of the whole idea of doing this is to learn about maintenance and boat ownership and starting with one that needs more doing to it is probably a better starting point, for what I want to get out of it. At the end of the process I'll have learnt alot, which is worth the cost of getting there.
Therefore, I think it'll be the Contessa - and one that needs working on to bring it back to a decent state.
Will I regret this choice?
