Your answers will depend if I go to visit my V-Old-Pal & his Crew .....

My basic question ...... is the Flu virus contagious once past the fever & shakes stage?

My second question is ..... how many of us have experienced the unfortunate situation of having been infected by a fellow crew member?

And! ..... should they be flying the Yellow flag ...... ;)

Sharing 'Bugs' in close proximity is definitely NOT recommended in my-books .....

I doubt if you'll get a clear answer. In the old days, there used to be tables of contagious periods for common disorders, like chicken pox, but for colds & flu it tends to be vaguer. Usually, the worst time is in the early stages, when the virus is circulating in the bloodstream, and even before the main catarrhal symptoms have appeared. By the time people are coughing and looking awful, they may well be harmless and you will probably be fine, as long as you share the whisky that you will no doubt be taking along for his medical use. Contagion is often via one's hands, so hand-washing is recommended.

Ahhh!

Now I / we know:

"You are usually infectious – that is able to pass on flu to others – a day before your symptoms start, and for a further five or six days. Children and people with weaker immune systems, such as cancer patients, may remain infectious for longer." .... ;)

you will probably be fine

Thanks! ..... but I've never liked the word 'probably' .... as it's in my 'grey-list' ...... & never to be trusted or relied upon ..... ;)

But I do like the 'Old-Seadog' & guitar playing 'Minstrel' .... so I'm going to have to go & say hello ..... bring-on the 'Bugs'!

The gel stuff one cleans the hands with at hospitals might be useful ?

As regards the word ' probably ' well there's an ad' on the Sky Channels at the moment for a shaver job " virtually pain free, 92 % of users agree ".

If I wanted it I'd like a definition of ' virtually no pain ' and what happened to the other 8 %, ? now in titanium chambers in experiments for NASA ?!
