Connecting ST60+ Vane to Course Computer 150 and then to ST6000+ Autopilot?

Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible to simply wire an ST60+ Wind Vane into my CC150, and then be able to use the Vane function on my Autopilot?

I have been trying to buy the ST60+ Wind display unit for ages, with no success, to replace my TackTick unit so that I can have this function.

If it is as simple as just wiring the vane into the CC150, I'll leave the Tcktick in place and just add the vane.

you can see that the cable from the mast head unit is not Seatalk. It needs to go into a ST60+ or i60 instrument head which then puts the data onto the Seatalk network.

Is this ST60+ wind instrument hard to find? I replaced my old ST60 wind display when it died and I got a replacement within a couple of days.

Thanks Angus. According to the manual, the CC150 has connections for NMEA 1 and NMEA 2. If the vane is not a Seatalk unit, then couldn't it be connected to the NMEA1 port with one of those Multplexer/Bridge thingies? I know the cable has 5 wires in it and the connection only has 4 ports (2 in and 2 out I'm assuming), so I can see that I have probably got it all wrong. Thought I'd ask anyway.

I'm pretty sure not as I believe that the data that comes down the line from the mast head unit is just raw pulses and voltage levels from the speed/direction transducers. It's not Seatalk and it's not NMEA-0183. It needs to be fed into one of the 2 devices listed to interpret it and output Seatalk messages.

The masthead unit is an analogue device. The wind instrument converts the analogue information from the vane and outputs it as a digital data stream on its Seatalk ports. You cannot connect the vane directly to an NMEA or Seatalk bus as all you'd be doing is sending varying voltages down the bus, three wires carrying different varying voltages in the case of a Raymarine masthead unit in fact.

The other option would be looking into a quick and cheap way to link my Tacktick Wind instrument into the CC150. Is that possible?

Does the Tacktick Wind have any inputs/outputs to enable it to interface with other instruments? Is so, and the port talks NMEA0183, you could take that somewhere. I don't know what a CC150 is and Google doesn't help, so can't comment further.
