Connecting Matsutec AIS transponder to Garmin Echomap plotter.

Heading down to the boat today to install the above. Anyone care to hazard a guess at which wires from one unit connect to the other? The Matsutec manual lists the wiring as follows:



…and the Garmin’s wiring:



Must admit I’m a bit flummoxed by the Matsutec wiring descriptions, having expected Tx, Rx and so on.

Any tips gratefully received!

Matsutec Orange to Garmin Brown.

The Garmin uses -ve for NMEA -, looks like the Matsutec does the same, in which case you just need the Orange/Brown connection.

Check the Garmin port is set to 38,400 and AIS is turned on.

Thanks Paul. I had, after a few hours of internet research and head scratching, arrived at Matsutec orange to Garmin Brown, but couldn’t for the life of me work out the negative connection. I’ll give your suggestion a try. Much obliged.
