connecting eagle gps reciever EGC-12W to computer

the Eagle installation instructions state that the module can send and receive NMEA data to a personal computer or any other NMEA compatible device with RS-232 I/O.
Yes my computer as a serial port which is RS232 compatible.
The Eagle unit as four pin connector but they do not state which are the power and read/write pins. I have sent them an email but have not received a reply yet, if and when I do I will list it as these units are common to many eagle gps units and it would be usefull to many users.
I asked the forum as I thought other users may have already done this connection.

According to my literature on the subject, the RS232 port at the computer receives data on pin 2 of the 9 pin connector (pin 3 if you have a 25 pin connector).

When you have figured out what the GPS wires are, try connecting NMEA OUT to RS232 connector pin 2 if it is a 9 pin connector (pin 3 if it is a 25 pin connector).

Also connect GPS 0V to RS232 connector pin 5 if it is a 9 pin connector (pin 7 if it is a 25 pin connector) for the signal ground reference.

The GPS will probably transmit at 4800 baud, so you will need to set the computer's com port to 4800 baud.

I'm sure someone out there is adept at setting up com ports and can advise you, my laptop doesn't have one!

thanks for info, I think I have figured out the gps wiring so will try it out and post my results. No reply from Eagle yet.
