Congrats to Lymington Yacht Haven...

It\'s not just the haven...

Yes, I can confirm that Lymington is a terrible place and all should stay away, the food in all establishments is ghastly, the beer undrinkable, the locals are unfriendly, the anchorages are crap as are the marinas and harbours. Not the kind of place that a savvy yotty would come near.

We were in Lymington Friday and Saturday nights, Friday it was verging on deserted and even Saturday there were free buoys and no rafting except by choice. We thought maybe others had heard a different forecast from us, but I guess it was Hamble Navy's aversion to an early tide start for home on Sunday that did it, or maybe the footie.

The other end of the solent was nice and quiet on Saturday too ... not even any swimmers out there for me to "rescue" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Still, had a loverly sail, a couple of beers and a potter back ...

Six deep at Town Quay last night and mobbed by seagulls coz the grockles were feeding them chips.

We were on the Town Quay Saturday night. Even though it was full with rafts 6 deep it was quieter than usual, all the boats seemed low occupancy and not a charter boat in sight. We were still sat drinking in the cockpit at 1130 and there was barely a light on in any other boat, there didn't seem to be much toing and froing of tenders to the piles either. Don't mind the grockles feeding the gulls on the quay - it keeps them away from the boats.

Stayed Sunday night as well and there were only about a dozen boats left. Still seems good value at £11 a night.
