I'm not a confident woman and although I like sailing I like big men to help me. One that's recently started coming a long has started asking for favours as recompense for me letting him sail with me. He says its a sort of nautical tradition .. is this the case?

/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif If it's the sort of favour I think you're hinting at , most definately not /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Surely this is a wind up, if not it is the worse chat up line I've ever heard, unless it works of course

...who may be prone (!) to wearing a kilt and no underwear..

I particularly enjoyed Jemmie's post entitled 'Achtung! I've zunk mein boat!' a few months ago..

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif yes and no, its certainly a tradition of sorts, but not all traditions have to be kept up. You could start a few nice traditions of your own, one of mine is that I make nice crew suppers for the men I sail with,

[/ QUOTE ]That's nonsense, Jemmie is most certainly not a man.

The darkness caused by those rubbish disco lights.. er, actually, backtrack to save your feelings... she is a lovely lady, you did well for yourself there.

I believe the only nautical traditions (or perhaps naval traditions) are rum, sodomy and the lash. Take your pick.

Depends on the favour : if he wants to borrow your hammer drill for a bit of DIY thats one thing ,if he has had enough DIY and needs you to lend a hand then that is upto you.
As Skipper/owner you make the rules , but I would be careful of anyone who borrows a hammer drill in the week- shouldn't he be working!!
