Is there such a place here?

If not, here goes. On Saturday I did something I am deeply embarrassed by. We were in Sutton Harbout (Plymouth) and about to exit through the lock. I called up the gate keeper on CH12 and got the go ahead... but I must have missed the bit where he said wait for the lights to show green. There you have it: I focussed on the open lock and the open bridge and headed straingth through, wondering if the two boats coming in whould be able to squeeze past me. In fact I waited for one to get thorugh before motoring into the channel.

We got a good telling off from the lock keeper and some "comments" from the other guys coming in (who had green themselves).

Oh Gaud... so embarrassing.

So apologies to all round. Won't happen again. If I ever dare come back into Sutton.

saw you in Sutton Harbour.............

we're berthed not far from where you were. The guys who man the lock are good value; they do have to put up with a lot. The antics going on in the lock have to be seen to be believed sometimes and I often wonder why they don't shout more than they do. I believe there is a "shorthand" that one becomes familiar with (as a berthholder) as regards the vhf traffic; if unclear always ask again.

should have come round to say hello!

.... of course you would then have been associated with a transgressor of red lights.

Amazed that you weren't "named and shamed" on here on Sunday evening! The YBW Forum's Ena Sharples's must be slipping up. ;)
