Hi,

i need to replace the conduit (kind of a red reinforced ribbed hosepipe) in which the wire (regular 5mm 7*19) runs from the wheel to the quadrant atop the rudder.

i concede that pulleys would be an easier arrangement to maintain, but if i can find new conduit somwhere i think that will be far simpler to replace given the arrangement of aftcabin & various other assorted eclectic obstacles etc.

am in the Canaries at the moment so any sources here wld be particularly appreciated though suspect the simplest or at least most likely source wld be mail order from somewhere in England but cannot so far find a supplier.

many thanks for any advice.

best wishes
Stephen.

what does the conduit do?

does it just protect the wire (in which case domestic plastic water pipe would do, lots of places in las palmas you could get it from) if it also serves to guide the wire round bends you need something much more robust. your best bet for that is Morse cable- try them on the web

Try Edson...

Edson have a good range of steering conduits, and their catalogue has loads of really good advice in it. I think their website has links to pdfs of actual catalogue pages, so you can see exactly what's on offer. They used to offer an inline greaser for conduits - if this is still available, and as you're fitting new conduits, it might be worth incorporating one of these in each run.
