Greetings to the forum, I just joined tonight. I am considering the purchase of a Seastream 34. It's a very unusual boat here in the states, wondered if anyone had thoughts on it and how it might fare in the warmer climates here in Florida. Thanks ahead, Charlie.

Oh dear....... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Nice boat, sailed on one for a while, as already mentioned they are motor sailors with the emphasis on MOTOR. Needs a F to get moving under sail power. good accommodation, hatch way quite small so if you a BUFF you could find problems. Engine bay is under salon floor so need to lift the floor panels to access the engine - good size engine bay so working on engine is easy. Forward vision is restricted but good sheltered cockpit - if you do not want to see where you are going /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Plenty of scope for add-ons such as on-board generator and air conditioning.
Long keel so a few little maneuvering problems.

I nearly bought one myself but dithered about it too long and the boat I was interested in was sold.

Greetings TampaCharlie1. Welcome to the forum.
We have the larger Seastream 43 and are very pleased with it. As you will see from the leads at the bottom of my post the hull is fin and skeg and in spite of what Cliff says they sail really well in stronger conditions. The engine (usually Mercedes) is where it should be (in the middle of the boat) and all parts are specified to a high standard. The build quality is excellent and we have no sign of osmosis after 5 years continuously afloat.
There used to be a really good contributor to the Forum under the title CaptainSlarty who was based in La Corruna in his Seastream 34 last winter. He was ripping out the chart table to make a luxury sofa but we have not heard from him recently.I'll try to track him down.
I think the Seastream 34 is a sound, safe boat which is probably more in the motosailer category than the 43 but it depends on what you REALLY want.
Get in touch if you think I can help further.

PS you can find Captainslarty (Joe Hanley) by using the "Search" button but unfortunately he has not given an e-mail address. Someone on the Forum is BOUND to know him.

Ooops, just noticed the "4" missing from my post - I meant to say she needed a good F4 to get moving under sail alone.

Definitely a boat for the fresher winds IMHO.

My only gripe about them is the size of the companion way hatch - vey small.
