Anyone know anything about this marque?

Italian built I think and a very ‘interesting’ design - of its time perhaps but appears to be a lot of boat for the money.

Possibly The first version of the wide body with the 48 launched in 1988. Then followed by Posillipo with the Technema and other possibly Alfamarine with the 83 model.

The Chorum 48 , was followed by a 54, which then became a 60 (much nicer in this last version), And yes the 75 was a nice spacious machine.

Founded by Cimino in 1980, I helmed an 89 build 35 Lupo di Mare with twin 200hp Volvo 41s, and a 96 40 Sythesi models with Volvo 42s. The most popular model they had was the 40 and 46/50 series, and the 52/58 hard top variant. They had some nice features in the 35, and the 40 for its lean profile had a lot of accommodation.

Cimino sold to Rodriguez Group in 2002 (Rod the ship builder from Messina not the dealer of Mangusta and Leopard fame in SoF).

Recently Cimino (2016) founded Solaria Solaria Yacht - Un "walkaround" innovativo. with so far a one model in the range.

Not sure if you noticed, but on these so-called wide body boats, whenever you need to go to the bow (not to mention run a ground line from the stern to the bow when mooring stern-to), you must climb the stair to the flybridge and then walk along a downward sloped upper deck.
Seriously?!?

That aside, from my Italian viewpoint, it's interesting to see how how occasionally, out of the blue, some brands (which even in their domestic market never gained a half decent reputation) are noticed here, just because advertised at a theoretically attractive price.
'Fiuaskme, I don't think I would want that thing if the seller would pay me that kind of money to take it.

Did you actually see a 60 in flesh, W?
That's the only Conam I've ever seen, and it was more than enough for me to rule out the whole yard, in terms of build quality.
Besides, it's a boat where the wide body trick is nowhere near enough to compensate the fact that the whole boat is very small.
Just to put this in perspective, a Ferretti 46 is actually BEAMIER than the Conam 60 - wtf?!?

A non-boaty friend is thinking of getting a boat and asked what I thought. Having looked at it online my thoughts were similar to yours but I thought I would ask on here to see if anyone has more in depth knowledge about the marque.

Yes 4.30 meters is not a lot of beam for a 17 meter. Anyways the 60 was first born as a 54. Might have all been born as a 48 but need an original spec.

I am not a fan of the wide body but there open boats have been okay.

Tend to agree I’ve seen a few close up in various Italian marinas .Build quality leaves a lot to be desired.
They appear as if they have been finished from a kit in a home DIY moulding kinda way .
I think that’s reflected in the market values .
No idea how they run / ride .

No worries G2, and apologies if my previous comment came across as negative towards your OP.
It wasn't my intention, and there was nothing wrong with your post!

If there's anyone that could deserve some criticism, it's several other IT yards who used to build much better boats, but never managed (and didn't even care) to be recognized for what they were really worth.
Some of them, not only didn't do that outside the Country borders, but even outside their own region, within IT.

Oh, well. That's history, by now.
Anyway, if your friend doesn't care about brands (as his interest in the Conam suggests! :)), and he's looking for a f/b boat in that size bracket, I could compile a (relatively) long list of other IT yards to consider, before wasting any time with that thing!

Same from my part, in fairness.
But there must be a reason why Itama (and some other names) regularly springs to mind in talks about this subject, while I can't remember to have ever heard Conam mentioned by anyone...
Regardless, yep, with that build quality (lack of, that is!), I wouldn't consider even the best hull ever designed.

No apology necessary :)

They didn't hang about - his business partner viewed it yesterday and they bought it for a good price!

Wow. Well, I hope your mate won't start browsing the asylum.
My previous comments wouldn't be very popular with him, I suppose...
All the best to him anyhow, maybe the boat will be perfect for his needs, who am I to tell?!

It seems that they got it at a very good price and their intended use is effectively a holiday home that they can move from time to time with maybe some day trips when they have learned how to handle it and to safely take it to sea. I can see the attraction from their perspective.
