Well its on my pc I use for viewing this forum so its sorta boaty, anyway got the pesky ad programe that pops up called Favorit.

Randomly puts ads on the screen, now I have searched on Google for "uninstall favorit" and found their site with helpful info, "go to control panel" highlight Favorit, press uninstall.

Easy, except the uninstall wont delete it, (the contol panel is OK as it deletes other programmes) any ideas anyone?

I already have all the anti spam, super-antispyware etc but somehow this b****y programme has got on the C drive and I cant delete it

Run HiJack this from www.hijackthis.de (download from the top right corner).

Once run, cut and past the resulting notepad file contents into the hijacthis web page and click "analyze". (Leave HiJackthis running in the background).

The page will then show you a list of all the items running in your PC and suggest which ones are safe/unknown/risky.

Your pop up process will most likely sow up as risky. therefore locate in the hijackthis program (that's still running on the PC) and put a tick in the box to remove.

(I tend to remove anything that shows up as risky)

Also clear your Internet Explorer temp files folder (Tools/Internet options/Delete temp files) and empty your recycle bin.

You should also download and run the program Malwarebyte's Antimalware from here: www.malwarebytes.org DOWNLOAD LINK

Once installed, run a quick scan and remove anything it finds. Keep running until it comes up clean. (2 or 3 times on occasions).

If there are still issues, empty the temp folders in c:\temp (if there is one) and C:\windows\temp and c:\docs and settings\usermname\appdata\temp (often infection reinfect from the temp directories on reboot).

Thanks for the link Oldsaltoz

Nice little programe, I have run it and it says it has removed it but Hey Presto its still there, this is getting really annoying!!

Run it again and when you see the 4 methods of removal choose the most agresive, press next each time it completes a stage and it will go to the next, this will will all references to the offending program.

It'a a one click and it's gone show.

Avagoodweekend......

Thanks MJCP and oldsaltoz it worked eventually with Oldsaltoz reccomended prog, the irony was it seemed to know what you are searching for as it popped up a "screwfix" and "cleandisk programme" . Emptied the temp files and recycle bin.
