My fridge packed up. I made a post here and then disapeared and didn't read the replies. I don't deserve a second chance but here goes. It just stopped working so I took it all out and sent it to Waeco who pronounced it working, refilled the gas, refitted new couplings and sent it back. I refitted it, made a very cold beer and turned it off. Two weeks later I turned it on and it doesn't work and hasn't since. There is power to the unit, full power. The cables are correctly sized for the job. It just doesn't do anything, make a noise, hum a tune or cool beer. My question is this, is it possible there is such a small leak in the pipes to the cold plate that all the gas leaks out until it simply won't work? If the gas is low will the compressor still fire up and work even though it is not making the plate cold? You can see the technical side of drinking cold beer is beyond me! Help?

If the compressor is not running then the problem is almost certainly electrical. I had a problem with one of my fridge's systems that I eventually traced to a loose connection inside the electronic control box.

If the whole thing was sent back for re-gassing then they would normally vacume out the system, leave it for a period off time to check for leaks, then refill it with the correct gas.
If you say it isnt making any noise at all the the first thing to try is bypassing the thermostat, take the two wires off then strap them together and turn the fridge on again.

Sounds electrical.

If the gas had leaked out then the compressor would still run until it overheated and killed itself.

Check the thermostat and any other controls. A multimeter is a great friend at times like this.

My fridge didn't work because the battery connector (screw clamp types) were making a connection, but only just, but as soon as any real amps passed - it was not enough to start the fridge (take double amps to start the motor). Solved problem by re doing battery connectors with propoer crimped terminals - hey presto!

Some of them have a pressure switch in the circuit, no gas, no pressure, no start. Yer man needs to get a multimeter but somehow I get the impression that he might need a pro to help check.
