I've used it, but not for the course. Its quite good, and gives you an instant assesment of how much you know. As a teaching aid there are cheaper things
the term 'complete' means that it covers everything up to yachtmaster offshore, plus a good bit of extra seamanship and boat management (right down to tips for the galley).
you'll need to buy the RYA practice charts as well and work conscientiously through the exercises to get value from it.
it may not look as flashy as some of its competitors but none cover so much ground.
I'm auctioning some Tele Pilot Videos and Yachtmaster 1, 2 & 3 videos on Ebay at the moment. If you search under 'Yachting Training' at www.ebay.co.uk or search there under my Ebay alias of glassy_fried you will find them all there. They are all in excellent as new condition and I can highly recommend them all. You might get them at a low price, too, if the bidding doesn't go too high.
As it calls itself a Complete Yachtmaster course CD it will have to include the new syllabus coming into force in September which includes the Admiralty/RYA Chart Plotter. Each shore based student will get in their teaching pack the training CD for this, and the RYA is recommending 3 hours instruction for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore course and about half that for the Day Skippers. There is to be a new training chart, I believe.
If it doesn’t then it can hardly call itself “complete”, if you see what I mean.
