My last steel ketch had a lovely sestral compass in a binnacle and worked quite accurately. my new smaller boat was fitted with an electronic compass but this fails to work well. often spinning and not settling to give an accurate read.
I am, therefore, thinking of fitting a sestral but it would be fitted to within 9 inch of the steel coachroof. Does anyone know where I could obtain a sestral compass with easily accessable magnet compensators?
