I have a Plastimo Contest 101 compass with a compensating magnet that slots in at the bottom. At long last I am getting down to adjusting it and I have lost the instructions for the process. I know the basic principle of compass swinging and creating a deviation card etc but I seem to remember that using the adjuster screw on the compensator magnet you can reduce the error to negligable levels. Can anyone help?

Sam,

I asked much the same question a couple of weeks ago and got some very helpful replies. You may find it useful to look it up. (I'ld do a link for you, but I don't know how to!). It was either on Scuttlebut or PBO

There's also some info in the Plastimo catalogue and it may well appear on their website.

Joe
