Hi All

Open to ridicule I know, but the only way my Missus has agreed to move on to our new boat is if there is a washer/dryer fitted so what make/brand/model would any one recommend?

Hi there - I have a compact Candy washer and find it great. But I don't know about a dryer - aren't they very heavy on the power? I just hang stuff up.

Best of luck

Nick

No problem on brand make model etc for a washer dryer for the light of your life..

Thai, apx 19 years old, petit, skilled in massage and oriental oils.

or, change the model of the Missus /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Far cheaper in the long run, she will want an ironing board next...

Well, I'm with your missus. I've lugged enough laundry in the dinghy and on my back to decide I don't want to do that any longer. Of course, many things can be washed in buckets and hung on board and I've done that, but when you get to the big lumpy things, that's not easy. So, not being a young thing any longer, I insisted and we bought a Splendide 2100 washer/dryer combo. I can't tell you how well it works yet, as we've had to do a bit of interior rearrangement in order to fit in my new toy. But from what I've read, vented dryers work best, so we bought a mushroom vent and plan to hook up the vent hose when we use the dryer.

Don't let all those nay-sayers make you feel as if you've gone to the dark side. They're the ones who'll be snuggling up next to you on laundry day. The marina facilities here work with variable frequency, so I've made friends with a gal who has her own mode of trasport. We spend Tuesdays doing laundry, going out to lunch, shopping, etc. This is fine for now, as we're marina bound with the last of the work to complete on board, but when we get back to Mexico and ports beyond and anchor out again, I'm going to be very thankful for the watermaker, the generator, and the Splendide.

I've read about the community of women doing laundry together, but when I was out there, it was always me, myself, and I.

The one...

...that all the scandinavian "quality" yachts fit is a Zanussi but it is only a washer/spin dryer.

We have fitted a wooden drying rack over the engine which is fantastically effective. When in marinas, good old safety rails and a couple of bits of string under the bimini if it's raining suffice.

Yeah, sorry a second time, but couldn't resist. I know. I know. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Re: The one...

I have a candy washing machine, built in now under a forward bunk, which I also modified to become a double. I wouldnt be without my washing machine, also got fed up with lugging washing back and forward in the dinghy, not to mention the price of laundrys in spain! At anchor a watermaker is essential, they do use a lot of water, but a dryer? not for this boat. Got washing lines aboard and under the bimini if it rains, but if it looks like rain, dont wash!
