Nautical greetings to everyone

I recently bought a sailboat that has an Autopilot ComNAv 1440. I needed your precious help All autopilot components are on and working, so I have verified that all connections are made and the remote control is on and working. I verify that the autopilot computer output connects to an output plug (which I send in the attached photo) must be connected to an engine that I do not own, this engine must be coupled to the helm wheel pedestal (attached photo) .

roda1.jpgroda2.jpgPiloto 12v.jpgThe steering is mechanical, so I think what's missing is an electric motor.

Does anyone know what kind of engine I'm missing? Thanks

Hi, On the quadrant there's only the rudder post. I suspect the motor should be conetecte to this soccket (photo), or instaled inside the steering wheel pedestral. But I am missinh the motor

Looks like you have the ram on the arm attached to the rudder stock. What is on the other end of the ram? That plug looks like it should go into the control head. Why don't you contact the manufacturer at the link I gave?

The small black box is the rudder reference arm and that should connect to a junction box ,which then connects to both a drive unit and the control head.
Which cockpit control head do you have ? Or has that and the drive been removed .?
My last communication with Comnav in Canada in 2014 indicated that the older units are discontinued, so without the control head and drive unit you would be unlikely to get replacement parts .

Yes the drive unit, seems to have been removed, see picture piloto 12v. The rest of the equipment (rudder reference, compass, computer and control head) is fine and working.

I have contaced Comnav in canada, but they havent been much help.

Do you think a autohelm/raymarine drive unit like ST4000 can be conected ? the plug/socket looks similar to this.

Unlikely. That plug is nothing like the Raymarine one and doubt the control head would be compatible. Much easier to look at fitting a new drive unit, either a Raymarine of Jefa as generally speaking these just need a power source from the control . Even if the Wheel pilot could be mated to your controls it is not a very good system.
