I've watched this thread with some interest.

Very few are willing to take on the responsibility of Club Commodore and when they do they often get shat upon from a great height by their own members.

You've exposed yourself, unwittingly, to not only your own members but now to those here who are equally intolerant and who feel free to be hostile for reasons only they know.

Don't be disheartened, you are extraordinary, be tolerant of your own members criticism and invite them to succeed you, in due course, if they feel sufficiently strongly about issues they challenge.

As to those who have treated you unkindly here?

They haven't squared up to responsibility in their community, have they?

It's easy to have a pop from behind keyboard, brave souls! Ignore them, whatever they do they are probably very unhappy people

Congratulations on getting the Commodore post! As other have said the burgee just replaces the normal club one.

I hope you don't end up, like me, doing the job for ever! Although the Flag Officers stand down each year they can then be re-elected - if nobady else stand for the jobs you can guess what happens.

Do enjoy it - you won't get any thanks from others but it can be rewarding.
