What routes exist to get some kind of commercial ticket? I appreciate much of this is probably on the RYA site but some real life experiences/suggestions are useful. Some idea of timescale, cost, locations etc as well

It all depends to what level that you want to be endorsed
I would advise getting the medical done - or at least being very sure that you can pass it .....
Excellent advise but don't just read the questionnaire and assume you will pass, best to talk to an approved medical examiner. There is an upper age limit as well.
Are they allowed to discriminate on age? .....
as of next year the ladies will pay the same as us for car insurance![]()
To be honest its the Cruising Instructor which has an upper age limit of 64 years. I had always thought this applied to the Commercial Endorsement but I am not so sure it does.

If you already have RYA Day Skipper and upwards, you can get a commercial endorsement by taking an STCW 95 course.
