Commercial fuel for B&B Boats?

As a boat owner considering listing my boat as a B&B with Beds On Board would this qualify me for commercial rate fuel?

You already get zero rated diesel for the heating / generator fuel. You won't be moving guests on the boat otherwise that would be chartering and you would need to have the boat coded, a qualified skipper etc, etc.

So no change to your current situation.

I'm not an expert so can't be 100% sure, but I very much doubt it. If you run a genuine charter boat you're supposed to account for your personal use so as not to benefit from reduced rate fuel. In your case 100% of your fuel would be personal use.

You can already pay a much reduced rate of duty on fuel for heating, you just declare the percentage for domestic use when you buy the fuel. If you have Eberspacher heating you could maybe declare a higher percentage to allow for the extra heating use of the B&B customers. Over the winter, if the boat is going nowhere, you could even claim 100% domestic, but be prepared to justify it if you get a call from customs.
