Comments on Jeanneau Cap Camarat 755WA please

Hi Tom - you sent me some 715 and 755 brochures a couple of weeks ago - I must say in this world of less than helpful marine companies I've spoken to, it was a pleasure to receive your handwritten letter with the brochures.

As soon as I can arrange a day on the north island, I'll come and have a look at the CC. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looked at the 755WA for my dad and liked it a lot...but felt it was too big. The only option was my personal favourite the 625wa...but that was too small. The 715 should tick all boxes so very interested in comments. I have seen these at Sea and they are great boats with a deep v hull and flared bows. They look very competent and if I was trailing a boat again would get the 625Wa as it has the offset helm!

Let us know how you get on,

Cheers

Hi Tom,

You and the other salespeople at boatshows on the CC stands are always great! Thanks for letting us know who you are,

PS. Why are all the 625WA in that horrible green!

Cheers

Hi guys

If you have questions, PLEASE, ask via my work email as I am likely to miss them on here!

The green!
Well what can I say?
When green was the only colour you could buy one in, it was great and we had very few problems.
Jeanneau then launched the absolutely stunning dark blue ones in 2005 and any older "green" ones are now proving harder to shift.
It's a shame as it is the same great boat, just a different gel coat colour!

I do have a little soft spot for the 755WA and have spent many a happy hour flying around the Solent and Poole bay.
I've driven the 715WA much less (only a few hours), but the first impression is very good. A very soft ride from the deep vee and excellent pick up for a 4 stroke from the stepped hull.
It is all but equal in performance to the 755WA and not massively smaller overall, but the cuddy is quite considerably smaller inside and lacks the seperate heads etc.
Let's be honest, the 755WA is quite simply a tardis and defies the realms of reality with the amount of space in what is still essentially a centre console.

Hmm would your customer be happy to have half the forum trudging over their new (yet to be delivered) boat??

[/ QUOTE ]

You'd be surprised how few people would actually tak up an offer of a nose around a new boat.
Most of my customers work very closely with me in a mutual "back scratching" fashion.
At the end of the day what better recommendation could I have for both our boats and us as a company than an existing customer welcoming a potential new customer on to their boat for a look around?

Logging off for a little while now, but have picked up on Jez's request for some info via our website (that's on it's way) and worked out who SolentWight is (Julian, whenever you need anything else just ask, we don't sell timeshare and are boating enthusiasts first, sales people second!).

All the best

My first post, hopefully of use.

I can comment from experience as I currenlty have a 755WA. Had her just over a year and generally been very pleased with her. Fitted with twin Suzuki 140's, she is good for over 40 knots. Build quality is okay but depends on what you are used to. Never been in more than a 3/4 in her but have been to Granville (about 27 miles) and Guernsey as a similar distance and always feel confident in her abilities. Have done a couple of 2 night trips in her but more than this can get a bit tiring. Comment about the toilet compartment being tight is a valid one.
Had quite a few comments down the marina about how nice she looks and even SWMBO likes her although she does like boating which is always a bonus. Having seen a couple of the green versions, have to say the blue does look better. We also have the full sun canopy which covers the whole cockpit and would recommend this if you intend overnighting as it means that at least you get a reasonably dry cockpit to use if it rains. Only takes 5 minutes to put up and goes together pretty well. The full fibreglass seats do look a lot better than the seating on posts and going with this provides additional storage under the helm seat and fridge under the other seat. Have not been on a similar sized RIB so don't know how they might compare.

Regards,
Mark.

Hi Mark

It's nice to hear from an owner.
I agree about the loo being a bit tight, but the key point is that not too many centre console boats on the market actually have a loo at all, let alone a private separate heads.

Difference to a RIB? IT is probably as close as one could get to RIB like performance and handling, but you have enormous amounts more interior space on the Cap Camarat as you have no tubes to contend with. In addition, you most certainly feel that you are "in" a boat rather than perched "on" it.... (if you know what I mean).

She will take a very heavy sea if driven well, but she won't want to be forced through a 6 at 30 knots.

I 100% agree that the fixed seats look better than the pedestal ones, but bare in mind that will prevent any social use for the two helm seats once you are anchored etc. I have found that they tend to be a little too close to the wheel too.
If you are of slightly less lardy proportions than me and don't need them to swivel then the fixed seats are superb and very stylish.

I have not had a 755WA but I have owned a 625WA for 18 months and I have driven several 755WAs so I can compare the two.

The 755WA is a great boat in many respects... handling is superb, especially with the twin 140hp, build quality is typical Jeanneau - simple styling and fairly basic but what is there is quite well built.

The 755WA has a much bigger and more solid feel than the 625WA but there isn't really that much more in the way of facilities. OK, it has a little galley and heads but I had a portable stove and a portapotti on my 625WA at a hugely reduced price and running cost.

I absolutely loved my 625WA. It was great fun, economical (for an outboard) and had a super hull so turned well and was good in lumpy conditions. The 755WA is all of that and then some as it is bigger but I felt that it didn't offer "that" much more than the 625WA for the extra cost and running costs. I have not seen a 715WA so I can't comment on that but that might be a better compromise between facilities/capability and cost.

On a more general note though about Jeanneau... I have ad a Cap Camarat 625WA (18 months), my current boat is a Merry Fisher 625 and I also have had a Sun Odyssey 32.2 for the past year (which we are selling as we don't want a yacht anymore!)... what more can I say?
