Although in theory we will be selling the boat this summer is there anything against pondering what sort of boat I could replace it with if the need arose......

If you intend to give up then don't ponder... you will surely find a boat which you really want.
I have invariably found the ideal new boat long before the current one sold. Now I a pondering giving up, I already find myself viewing other boats which might just let me carry on a few years, when actually the one I have is as near ideal as can be.
