Here goes.........

I'm a print subscriber rather than digital. Why? Because I then have access to the archive for the whole period of my subs. Trouble is the pile of magazines is getting too big and I really need to cut the heap down, preferably to nothing.

But then I'd lose the archive.

If I had access to the archive online though, I'd buy the digital edition like a shot, even if it involved a slightly larger sub than the usual digital cost. Saves me space, time rooting through past editions, I can access the articles when cruising, all sorts of advantages.

Are there others out there who feel as I do?

So go on YM, how about it?

I used to think I did, then I binned all my old copies and find that my life goes on with no ill effect having lost access to the old mags. The things which might be useful are harbour guides and boat tests. Harbour guides are available online, and this forum fills in more detail than a magazine could. Boat tests are actually all the same once you've read a few - it sails well, layout is fine etc. To get real opinion on a boat you're better off asking on the forums.
That's not to say that I don't think the mags are great because they are. The useful thing about magazines is that they constantly introduce me to things I wasn't aware of before - new harbours I hadn't thought of sailing to, new techniques, new boats. That's in between all the Contessa articles of course - that one I read about in the last 35 issues :)

Actually can I buy them
Off of you next year please? It will save me ordering a subscription the following year :-)

On The other hand you could send them all to a printers and get them all out on PDF ;-)

I recall friends at uni (the rich ones) did that with text books.

Content in the mags gets repeated every few years... So you don't need more than a 3 year archive...

In reality a digital mag is a a waste of time... They need to go totally live and digital and not worry about the magazine format... So buy membership and get behind a firewall to get access to evy thing the mag has, and more... Including archives, interactive seminars, pod casts... Films... You name it. Including the forums.
