I've tried Google, E bay and a number of swindleries out there but have been unable to find a reasonable combined deck/steaming light. The one that keeps appearing is a very cheap and nasty article with a totaly exposed deck light which I imagine will be buggered by the salt air in no time at all. Has anyone bought a new combined light recently who can point me in the right direction please. Cheers all, Mike.

If you mean the Aquasignal 25 combined steaming/deck light, which is probaly the most popular (praps 'cos there aren't many others!) I don't reckon they're cheap, but they are very good. True, the deck light bulb is exposed, but the reflector is made of s/s so is maintenance free.

Have had them on my boats for well over twenty years and only remember replacing the bulbs twice. Let's face it, the unit is situated way up the mast, so doesn't get sea-water wet in normal circumstances - thank the Lord!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

FWIW, when the #25 Aquasignal gives any jip, you could try what we did about 10 years ago- we fitted a 12v halogen sealed downlighter bulb with dichroic filter- they're almost an exact replacement, and they cost like ZAR20 (EUR 2) to replace when they're toast, and they're almost too bright! The only downside I can see is that they're directional, so if you've got a heeyuge foredeck maybe not the best mod!

I agree - thats what I did too. They are brilliant! (Sorry!) As for anti- collision avoidance - better than any white flares.

What great idea!! Thanks a lot for that, I've got several of those kicking around the place, but never thought of trying one!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
