(Not sure I’ve got the name quite right, but left the mag at home today)

After my first quick scan through the new MBY, the thing that stuck in my mind most, was that new ‘Fiat Multipla’ of the 75ft motor yacht brigade, called something like a ‘Coman Wide Body’ 74 I think.

Perhaps I’ve owned a Birchwood too long, but I must admit to being quite taken with the big black thing.

If I could only own one long enough to scare the living daylights out of some poor Scottish fisherman mending his nets in a small island harbour. In true ‘Independence Day’ style, the late Autumn sun illuminating his work would suddenly darken, and he’d turn his head to see this wide bodied monster sliding into his harbour on impulse power. Question is, would he go first for his flask for a large wee dram, or his 7250i to MMS the Hebredian Herald.

Mmm, obviously it's a bit too good-looking for Birchwood owners. Are there *any* boats that you think are really unacceptably ugly?

Well I would have thought the Wally Power in last months MBY was way beyond Multipla, way beyond wilfully ugly and obviously born in a forest full of ugly stick trees. Other than that I find the top heavy condo on water type yank boats a la Carver particularly loathsome especially when fitted with full size oxygen tents over both aft deck and flybridge
