Hi, I have a bluetooth GPS which I use with a Tom Tom programme on the PDA.

Works well.

But I want to comnect it to my laptop to provide data for the Seapro programme.

The utlity that comes with the GPS says that its connected with the laptop on com 40, but the Seapro software only seems to allow a connection on coms 1 to 8.

Tis a bluetooth, so no direct wires. The bluetooth on the laptop connects to the Nokia phone with no problem.

Any ideas.....

TIA

I think, but am not entirely sure, that you need a virtual port creator - bit of sw. If you search in Google, you will find a number of them, and by reading the descriptions, decide if that is what you need. Come back either way, you cannot be the first to want to do this /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Google search VIRTUAL PORT CREATION

Thanks for the help Denbigh.

I have downloaded two of the virtual port programmes. They seem straightforward to work, but as yet have no luck in a succesful reassigment.

The programmes purport to link com 40 to com 7, but this just seems to block com 40, and nowt comes out on com 7.

The UrL page seems to deal with Windows CE, but I don't understand it anyway....

I have had the system working, but alas had to reformat the HD at Xmas. This prog has not been able to connectsince.

There is a tidy programme called VirtualGPS which should connect to the Bluetooth dongle, it displays position satellittes etc. But again it only wants to look at com 1 to 8, not 40 where my Bluetooth comes from.

The Bluetooth software does not seem to give any choice in the port used????

Back to the drawing board....
