We're off to look at a Colvic Victor 40 next week.

Anyone got one or care to comment on suitability as a long term cruiser/liveaboard and how easily handled by a middle aged husband and wife?

They seem to have a lot of top hamper. Do they need a bow thruster? This one hasn't got one.

How do you fit a bimini to a ketch that has the mizzen in the way?

I met a Kiwi couple with a Victor 40 ketch on Poole town quay summer '86.
They were about late 30's then, and had bought a set of mouldings, and fitted the boat out themselves over a few years. They were just getting ready to sail her back home.
Met them again in Barbados 6 months later, and went sailing with them in the Mount Gay regatta (which was then just after Christmas, now it is in May).
The boat sailed very well, and was very comfortable. They did not have a bimini over the cockpit, but could put an awning over the mizzen boom while at anchor, or if the mizzen was not being used.
They had a successful voyage to New Zealand via Panama, and were owned by this boat for the next 20 years, regularly going off on voyages up to the Pacific islands, all the while sailing (usually) with just the two of them on board.
They did not have a bow thruster, but then they very rarely visited marinas.
