COLLPASE OF SALES COMPANIES

I think the magazines are painting a better picture of the sales market than is really the case. They reported Select going into liquidation, I heard that Sea ventures had as well, although I hasten to add this is only from one source. i was also told that boat Showroom had an emergency meeting and that all the Ancasta Agents,34, at the Southampton Boat show did not sale a boat between them. If all this is true then it is a very dire situation for the boat industry.

Not surpised boat sales were way down at SIBS - the media full of the worst economic news since 1929, banks being rescued, fear, uncertainty and doubt firmly set in the minds of prospective buyers, deciding sensibly to hold off and do nothing until all this plays out.

In such times non essential spending rapidly shuts down.

GE Capital here in the UK (GE is a a USA company) provides lease finance, or at least, used to. They have just pulled supporting any deals of leas than 250k !!!

They also provide finance for BT's sales under the guise of BT Network Finance.

Many, many companies in the UK use GE to finance their sales...

Interesting times. The thick plottens, as they say.

I think alot of us training schools are going to feel the pinch next year, me being based on the Isle of Wight and high ferry fares this year has seen a big downturn in our RYA Training.
Some of the mainland schools tell me they are busy but I never see them out and about as much as last year.

Surely cannot be true... I struggle to believe Ancasta failed to sell a single Sealine or Bavaria mobo at SIBS. If it is true dire isn't the word.... catastrophic would seem more appropriate.

Hi, I used to work at Oceanique, it was very unexpected and we were all very suprised. I had no idea it was going to happen, and I understand that no customers lost any money.
