I'm surprised not to see this here yet: this morning before dawn, two IMOCAs competing in the Route du Rhum, Ari Huusela/Ariel2 & Sébastien Destremau/Alcatraz It FaceOcéan, collided mid-Atlantic. Luckily no injuries and only minor damage, both are continuing to race.
Here's the article on the Route du Rhum site. And here's Huusela's description on Facebook.
Evidently Destremau was in bed at the time, sailing on autopilot at 12-17 knots. Huusela's radar proximity alarm went off but he failed to raise Destremau on VHF and by the time he went on deck it was too late to avoid the collision. Huusela was on starboard tack
