Collision in the Channel - ship inverted

Commercial ships use better AF than ours and that can be tailored to their specific application. Jotun produce a family of 4 AF (Quantum) based on similar technology for vessels operating at different speeds. There is also increasing use of silicone based AF (which are inordinately expensive, difficult to apply and can be damaged if/when you slip (to wash down). But as is commonly mentioned - use your yacht and with a good AF any fouling is kept at bay. A commercial ship sitting idle is losing money and an efficient operator will move the vessel virtually every day - the pictures seem to show that moving a vessel will keep the hull clean - if your AF is effective in the first place and apply sufficient coating.

I looked at the Clipper fleet in Sydney which had been coated with CopperCoat. Previously yachts would be lifted in Sydney, washed down and new AF applied. This time, the first race where they had used Coppercoat, there was not a trace of weed on the yachts - but they had effectively been used continuously since the CC was applied.

Unfortunately most of us cannot use our yachts sufficiently frequently - and the AF produced by Jotun for stationary vessels, those laid up, seem an ideal option - but use on leisure vessels is not allowed and sales are for professional application only.
