Colin Firth to play Donald Crowhurst!

Didn't Nigel Tetley overstress his boat after hearing of D.C.'s claimed fast progress ?

I got that idea from somewhere ("A Voyage for Madmen"??). It's a claim on the wikipedia page for Nigel Tetley with "citation needed" against it. I remember being surprised when I read Tetley's own account in "Trimaran Solo" that that didn't seem to have been the case at all but annoyingly my books are in storage so I can't check my facts...

Laika,

"A Voyage for Madmen"

rings a bell; whatever it was I can't imagine the pressures Donald Crowhurst, RKJ and the rest were under - not even with what we would call cheap coastal waterproofs these days.

According to IMDB (movie internet thing) they've got James Marsh as director for the Crowhurst film. Pretty good portfolio of work, including Theory of Everything.

That Deep Water documentary was amazing. I think it was in that where Chay Blyth is describing how he was pretty much learning to sail as he left the Hamble for the race...

I also recall RKJ speaking about how everyone suffered mentally, and when he was in a dark place he'd always grab for a book and read his way out. Apparently had stacks of books onboard.
