Colin Firth to play Donald Crowhurst!

I am excited already... I hope they do the story justice. It could be a fantastic film!

That is a film I will watch as I have always felt sorry for Donald Crowhurst, an inexperienced sailor with a dream which turned into a nightmare. At some stage and to some degree, that might have applied to many of us on this forum.

A few years ago you could zoom in on Google Earth (other mapping apps are available) and see the remains of Teignmouth Electron sitting forlornly on the upper beach on Cayman Brac. I think the boat has almost disintegrated now but might still be visible depending upon when the mapping was done. Very sad.

In order to stay true to the original story, the film will be in fact be a stitiched-together montage of bits of other Colin Firth films interspersed with some random footage of the southern ocean.

I knew DCs son quite well back in the 80s without realising that his father was DC. I hope the film remains true to the reality of what happened. RKJ came out of it extremely well.

And so RKJ should...... so I believe. Teignmouth from Shaldon.jpg He gave away the prize which is the equivalent of 2 houses in present prize money.....
