Not really a varnish. A microporous, moisture curing, probably polyurethane based, sealan made so far as I can gather in Germany for the building trade in the first instance but now increasingly used on boats. I have been using it and am increasingly a fan of the stuff - but FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS RELIGIOUSLY and do not use old stock.

My mate bought a boat whose wodwork was done with this stuff, and according to the previous owner it was already 6 years since it was put on, and it looked good enough. When we grazed the gunwale on the pontoon he gritted his teeth and bought a little tin for nearly 40 pounds. On further inspection it said you shouldn't try to keep the rest of the tin as it will go off. If that is true it means you will waste a lot, which makes it even more expensive. Just something to consider, it seems to be good stuff.
