When on passage we have limited secure storage for things like water bottles, binoculars, phones, etc.
I saw a similar idea on a race boat I was on in the summer where they had a saddlebag that went over the central folded table with pockets in it. Since our cockpit table folds down we came up with a solution to mount a canvas panel on the front of the table. Works really well. We used phifertex for the pockets as it is self draining and easy to see what's in each pocket. It's secured at the base with a strap around the pedestal.
A winter project anybody?

On my boat I have pockets on the backs of the cockpit dodgers. The pockets are customised to take items such as binoculars, H/H VHF, navigation tablet, pilotage info , furling line tails etc. The pockets are made from waterproof fabric and have weatherproof flaps sealed with velcro. Simple but effective.

Amazon do hanging storage for as little as £10-00 . Clearly not the same quality but one can buy a new one every couple of years. I assume that even the Op has to remove his to raise the table up. So they will not be outside all the time

Ours is under the sprayhood. It doesn't see too much UV and it's all made with highly UV stable materials. It's only when we are on passage when the boat is leaning that we need something to keep stuff from flying about. At anchor we have lots of storage space either side of the companionway. Not having winches or jammer there like many boats , its quite spacious.

Clever ideas.

I'd like to say that being a cat we can put anything down on the saloon table and it stays there - the reality is slightly different and we have bottle racks, that I made to fill 'odd' spaces that accept a thermos or drink bottle. Our problem was where to store tools that are commonly needed and I made a variation on a knife block which is housed just inside the saloon and accessible from the helm.

We also have two racks that simply hold bottles, Worcester sauce sized, that hold olive oil, sesame oil, corn oil, cooking wine etc. that keep the bottles safe and the chef simply needs lift the whole rack out of the cupboard and she has all the condiments neatly to hand. I never thought they merited a photo :(

The steering pedestal down tubes are good to clip things too as well - I used a couple of offcuts of artfully scalloped pvc down pipe , two 25mm clips per, fine line laced across the open bases of each down pipe, voila. Drinks holders and they could be rotated around each pedestal down tube and or slid up/down..
After a couple of years the 25mm clips require a cable tie to pinch them up a bit

I have a bag behind the instruments, fastened with lift a dots. It's big enough for the binoculars and mobile electronics so you always know where you have put them and they are in the dry. You can imagine it behind the above companionway pod here:
