Lynn wants to introduce a cosy seductive atmosphere into the cockpit of an evening.
As the cockpit is full of stomping size tens during normal operations, does anyone know of any shielded subtle lights, low wattage and low cost that she might cause her to succomb to wooing me come dusk ?
A 12v wine cooler may also help, as will a paper bag for me, but I already have those.

Hurricane lamps are lovely but praps not quite what you have in mind for your whizz bang smart boat. You can get in boom lighting which is nice....

The old caravan shop again !!

Hidden lighting, sunken lights, etc. etc.

Boat before I even used the small white rectangular lights that can be fitted to front corners of caravans ... they take festoon bulbs, are waterproof etc.

Have a look in your local DIY warehouse at the add-on lighting sets for decking. These are pre-wired weatherproof 12V halogen or LED and are available in a variety of colours. They are designed as uplighters but can be mounted in any orientation. I suggest the add-on sets because the starter sets contain a mains transformer which is superfluous. Guide price is about £10.

Have you considered plug for the cockpit drains and making a offshore jakuzzi? Very private and romantic. Just avoid the 'sunken' variety.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Its little lanterns you need, if you get the ones that take those dumpy little candles, they are available with citreonella oil in, so they help keep the mossies off as well.

I started off with a small all-round white nav light as used on RIBs etc, sealed the cable entry with mastic and hung it from the spray hood, plugging the lead into a 12v socket. The finishing touch is a woven palm leaf lampshade bought from a beach vendor in St Lucia. It's perfect for a romantic evening at anchor.

have you considered a garden solar lantern - they are cheap, just modify them so they can hang from the boom, and will last at least until bed time. - just need to be placed where they can pick up the sun for the next night. And you could even use them as an anchor light

I'd go for the little citronella candles jobbies, can get them in a little lantern thingy, very nice, a little strop around the boom to hold them up, flickering light in her eyes, bottle of hand to hand combat red!! Got to get your wicked way!! I have two old anchor lights, with leccy bulbs in them, very classic and very nice!!

I have found a 12v fluorescent tube type lamp as sold at car accessory shops works a treat, Mine is enclosed in a 1" plastic tube with a long lead and crocodile clips and cigar lighter plug, about £5.99.

What about ...

A B&Q special .... 12V car inspection lamp with hook .... dangle a bit of paper resembling money to filter the light and give subtle hint of pleasures to come .... ??>?? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Some of you blokes amaze me!
I ask for seductive and you give me B&Q Car inspection fluorescents to hang on the boom with a hook. Blimey.
I take on board the candly things - we have those already.
But the garden 12v things without the transormer, thats the nail punched firmly on the noggin

And in case there is any doubt - I dont wear the trousers round here, especially if SWMBO has a mind to it /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif My preference is for an overdose of red, topped off with Port, and preferably Arabica Coffee served with a side order of Aberlour A'Bunadh, which takes me firmly the other side of seducible /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif . However, to maintain the illusion that I need to procreate further generations of Dews, we must at least put in some effort.
Thank you for your sagacious outpourings mes amis.

Jim

Snowleopard if you bought your lampshade from that bloke in Rodney Bay I can let you have thre matching hat. Very comfortable but I'm sick of the rest of the tribe taking the p*ss!

It was actually a p...s t..ke ...

I may have such an item --- a 12V B&Q special ... but honest my post was meant as a joke ................ sorry if the romantic evening didn't take off as 'wanted' ......

Am I forgiven ??

You're a bad bad man Luther. As my cup overflows, I am full of Christian Charity. Tonight, Lynn is more interested in the newly acquired full programme timer for the Webasto heating. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
