just looking at these cheap radios as a back up and was wondering if anybody uses one. it will only be used inside Chichester harbour so are they powerful enough to call the harbour master and the ferry on within 2miles or so?

I bought one this year cos it was small enough to fit into my inside jacket pocket "just in case".
Ive been on both sides of its transmission/recieption and its a great wee radio. Buy it. Very much recommended for the cost!

Great for the cost.. They just sound extremely tinny if you listen to [for example] the weather forecast on them with another better VHF handheld next to it for comparison.

If you had not got the other radio for comparison I guess you would never realise how tinny they sound

A backup of anything though is a good thing to have so go for it.

Check they have channel 37 - used by some clubs and marinas - some of the small cheapos don't....
