Steve, I was born in Poole just over sixty years ago and grew up near and around what is now known as Cobbs Quay, but was known as Cobbs Yard after the then owners name.At that time the yard consisted of a few old sheds, a lot of mud flats and reed beds, very few private boats, and one or two ex MTBs/MGBs as house boats. The entrance to the yard was down a rough lane which ran between the Red Lion pub and the old Hamworthy church, (now sadly gone and replaced) on the Blandford road.
Over the years it has changed hands a number of times and slowly evolved into what it is today.
