Cobb cookers

Had lunch using mine yesterday; the only recommendation in wind is that it's probably worth getting a windproof gas type lighter to ignite the cobblestone with. The increased heat gets it lit pretty quickly; using a regular lighter or match requires about 10 seconds of contact, which can be challenging when it's blowy.
I did use a handheld blowtorch one - that was instant!

Hmm, Cobb FAQ from their webpage

Q. Is the Cobb easy to clean? And how?
A. One of the best features of the Cobb is the ability to clean it so easily. The Cobb is dishwasher safe (excluding base). The dome, grill grid, fire basket, steel bowl and all the accessories can all be placed in the dishwasher. The outer base does not collect a lot of dirt and can be easily wiped down with a damp soapy cloth.

Seems that owners have a very different tale!

Roasted a whole 2kg chicken last week in ours in the cockpit on Nidri quay. Put chicken stock in the moat, took an hour and a half, and it was one of the most succulent roast chickens I have ever had.

I can only add to it being really great. I use it on a plastic table! No issues whatsoever! Lid does get hot. It made brilliant pizza. I rarely use it on-board which is why I got it! It is mainly because of storage and transporting. I do use the rail bbq which takes disposable ones. I use a metal tray also to help the bbq not fall through!

Cleaning the cobb is the biggest pain but it is worth it. Should use it more on the water.
