Coaxing children into lifejackets

Re: yup

Most times we are at sea we are picking up divers so very used to this. usually get within a few feet of divers to be picked up, engines in neutral and then switched off to avoid fumes in face.

You are right that in rough weather there is a real danger of boat pitching and rolling, which even with an alert fully kitted diver can cause problems. Would not be an easy task with an injured or unconscious casualty.

Re: Agree with Dad Shhh!!

Im afraid Pauline that this is the one and only time that I agree with Dad. Obviously can't remember if had any temper tantrums over life jacket but it never did me any harm. Had big bulky orange one til I was 9 then had automatic one which I still have now. As time went on I wouldn't of dream't of being on the boat or on the pontoon's with out it on, it was just routine, they'll get used to it! Only thing the lifejacket did to me was as you know I never wear my hair down coz it used to get knoted it the toggle on the jacket, consequently always wore it up and still do, not much of a price in return for potential life saver.
