To be fair, that doesn't say anything against water-based activities, and the number of people getting into trouble while walking along tiday coasts has been reported before.

They probably could but those protocols are surely more labour-intensive and PPE-requiring. Do they have the staff and the kit to handle the extra burden?

so while HMCG may be "against return to sailing", I guess I'd want to see a more explicit statement before assuming this to be the case.

Indeed, as public servants I would expect them to follow the new policy apparently laid down by their political masters last night, although as more guidance drips out I’m a little concerned that to use a watery metaphor, Boris may be forced to row back from some of it over the next two days.

I think many mistakenly belive that the CG deals almost exclusively with yotties, fishing boats, ships and the like while instead a significant proportion of their time is taken dealing with the more general public

The same applies to the RNLI
